The Tee Ball Division is for boys and girls, 4-5 years old, who want to learn the fundamentals of the game of baseball, such as hitting and fielding. Its primary goals are for players to learn the basic skills of the game, while having fun and staying active.
Players hit a ball from a batting tee in this division exclusively; no live pitching, either by a player or a coach, is used. In each inning, all players will bat. Outs, including strikeouts, are not recorded; all players will hit the ball and have an opportunity to advance one base. Coaches will adjust the batting lineup each inning to allow a new player the opportunity to leadoff.
Weather permitting, practices for the Tee Ball Division usually begin in March. Each team is assigned a practice time during the week, usually at 6pm, or on Saturdays. Practices are held once per week until games begin. Opening Day varies each season but is generally in early April.
Game schedules will usually feature one weekday game and one Saturday game. Game schedules will alternate each week such that teams do not play on the same day each week or at the same time on Saturdays. Occasionally, rainouts will be rescheduled for Sunday afternoon.
We will do our best to accommodate special requests for carpooling or if your child has a particular evening where he or she cannot attend. If your child has a commitment on a specific evening, just make a note in the comment section of your registration form; we will try to place him or her on a team that does not practice on that evening. Once games begin, it's okay if your child misses a game or two.
Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved with this introductory level of Little League. After completing our registration and required background checks, parents can volunteer as Team Managers, Assistant Coaches, or Team Parents.
