Rookies AA is intended for girls and boys ages 7-8 years old. In Rookies AA, games are split between player pitch and machine pitching. During machine pitch, players are given a set number of hittable pitches. If they are unable to hit the ball into play after this number of pitches or if they accrue three strikes, an out will be recorded. Base stealing is also introduced with a limited number of allowed steals per inning.
Games are six innings in length with the customary three outs per half inning. Scoring is limited within each half inning; if a team reaches the run limit in the inning, the inning will be ended and the opposing team will come to bat.
Games are played on a Little League sized field with 60' between each base and a pitching rubber set 45' from home plate.
Players are placed on team rosters by division commissioners based on their skill set through information collected at Player Evaluations.
